RFID Powder?
by Djehuty
Yep, you read that right. RFID chips now come in poweder form, 0.05mm x 0.05mm to be exact. The new chips are 64 times smaller than the previous record holder, the 0.4mm x 0.4mm mu-chips, and nine times smaller than Hitachi’s last year prototype, and yet still make room for a 128-bit ROM that can store a unique 38-digit ID number
Planned to debut in 2 to 3 years, these granule-like chips will most likely be used in anti-counterfeiting applications.
It is unlikely, especially at this level of technology, that these chips could be used effectively on living entities. However, this advancement does raise a lot of possibilities, and privacy concerns as well.
New Orleans revisited
Guest Article by Dan Kellum
Just got back from New Orleans! That place has a long time until recovery. Looks like I will be running back and forth for the next few months helping out rebuilding the town. Hope you all will be fine.
As I drive through the town I am amazed at how little seems to be done. It is like a ghost town after a war, weird. I don’t know how people cope with so much death and destruction. Sometimes we all need to help someone in this life to realize who we are inside.
I am very heartbroken when I see the pain in that city, not just the pain from rebuilding but the pain of being forgotten. Outsiders do not understand or want to know the real story of New Orleans. People have to deal with so much loss, their families, friends and even their own body parts from infection and disease.
This would explain some of the aggression you see but the New Orleans police. The police there are at times brutal, they don’t play nice. Be carefull if you are planning to visit the Big Easy. It’s not easy no more.
I spoke with people down there and can only imagine the depression they feel. Several people just gave up and their homes are being bulldozed. Are they the smart ones? Is it wise to rebuild? With the information we have now about global warming and the rising sea levels is life in New Orleans still feasible?
What a long strange trip

The ethnic makeup of the candidates in this year’s election is beginning to look like James Watt’s ideal staff – a black, a woman, two Jews and a cripple. Someone should convince Joe Lieberman to run as there has already been a cripple as President – Franklin D. Roosevelt. Even though no one would admit it.
Is America ready for this level of diversity? I would like to think so. A recent survey by Harris Interactive showed Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama as the top two choices of all Americans surveyed. (Republican and Democrat) The top Republican candidate in this bipartisan survey was Colin Powell.
Democrats have traditionally been more accepting of diversity but Colin Powell as the leading Republican is not that surprising. Finally America is becoming less concerned with the color of your skin and more concerned with the quality of your ideas.
